JOB SUMMARY:

Our client is a Top 5 Pharmaceutical company seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Medical Advisor to provide support for their products in the Haematology area. This is one of those rare roles encompassing Medical Affairs and Clinical development. The focus will be on a number of new product launches. Good industry experience to meet these challenges is more important than therapy background.
Based at the company’s offices in Surrey.

BACKGROUND:

Our client has a well-earned reputation for introducing innovative and effective medicines for disease areas in need of new therapies – particularly in oncology, transplantation and ophthalmology. They are also known for producing new and ever-more efficient medicines for the more common cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, as well as for diseases affecting the brain.

They have one of the best pipelines in the industry with a total of 75 development projects in the pipeline, of which 70% are in trial phases II or III, or in registration. 90% of these projects offer new modes of action or are treatments meeting unmet clinical needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team within Haematology in support of their growing portfolio of life changing therapies for patients with cancer. The vacancy is for a Senior Medical Advisor to take on responsibility for medical leadership for a major brand and pipeline products.

The Senior Medical Advisor will be responsible for:

• Providing advice and support on interpretation of the Code of Practice and as a final signatory ensuring ethical promotion of products and activities in accordance with ABPI, internal SOPs and regulatory requirements for existing and pipeline products.

• As the medical expert providing strategic input into brand planning process, locally and a regional level, to ensure medical and scientific credibility and the optimal use of data for competitive product differentiation

• Local phase IV and Third Party clinical trials development to support the oncology marketed products portfolio

• Key Opinion Leader development, including building your own network of investigators and thought leaders as well as strengthening existing relationships.

• Production of data summaries/ briefings of key publications and trial information to Oncology Business Unit

• Input into Health Technology Assessment submissions

• Support and training for Oncology Business Unit on brand and therapy areas

• Support Medical Information as appropriate

• Representing the medical team at national/international congresses

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Medical Qualification and full GMC registration

Industry experience required

A background in Haematology would be beneficial, but is not essential.
