Management Team

The Management Team at AXESS encompasses a vast amount of experience in the industry and in commerce. Brief details of each are given below.

Beth Thomas-Stonier BSc, MSc, FIS
Chief Executive officer

Beth Thomas-Stonier has over 20 years experience working within the pharmaceutical industry. After qualifying with an MSc. in Statistics from Imperial College, London University, she spent seven years at Hoechst UK where she was in charge of an expanding Biometrics Department. This was followed by four years at Glaxo Pharmaceuticals in a role that included building and running a Statistics and Data Management Department.

Since 1990 she has been the Managing Director and more recently, CEO of AXESS using her experience to build a high quality biometrics and resource provision service for the pharmaceutical industry.

Ian Thomas
Managing Director

Ian Thomas joined AXESS in 2001 as Managing Director, with a brief to move the company forward and further enhance the ethos of customer service and long term partnerships. Previously, he spent 13 years at the nutritional products company Nutricia where he was responsible for the Infant Nutrition and Nutritional Supplements Business Units with a turnover of £130m.

Prior to this General Management role, Ian was Sales Director, with responsibility for retail, pharmacy, and medical communication strategies, including the management of two Nurse Advisor teams. During this time he was also responsible for sales of Clinical Nutritional products for use in hospital and the community.

With a headcount responsibility of 500, he developed extensive "hands on" experience of staff recruitment and retention strategies.

Dr Peter Stonier, MB, ChB, PhD, FRCP, FFPM
Medical Director

Peter Stonier is a pharmaceutical physician who worked in the Hoechst group of companies from 1977, latterly as Medical Director and Board Director until 2000. His career embraces the development of pharmaceutical medicine, professional representation of pharmaceutical physicians, and many aspects of education and training in pharmaceutical medicine.

Peter joined AXESS in 2000, and has been responsible for the selection and ongoing management of all Medical candidates.

He is a past-Chairman of BrAPP (British Association of Pharmaceutical Physicians), past-President of IFAPP (International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians) and the Royal Society of Medicine's Section for Pharmaceutical Medicine and Research. He is also a past - President of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK (1997-2001). Peter is currently Director of Training for the Faculty.
